Buying Advice

My ancient cellphone is losing it's support from Verizon and I'm looking at upgrading to a smart phone.

I've gotten away without having mobile access to the net so far, but it looks like something that might be worthwhile to have.

I've seen the new small Blackberry devices Pearl (in both CDMA and GSM versions) and the Curve (GSM) which are both easily pocketable. Both have the capability for Navigation which would be nice when I travel.

And I've seen the Palm devices in the old size and the new Centro (which has no built in GPS and isn't usable much outside the US) along with some of the Windows Mobile based phones.

From my work, I can get a fairly inexpensive net access package with the Blackberry or for a bit more a data package that works with other PDAs.

Any suggestions regarding whether it's worth an extra monthly fee to use a Palm or Windows based device? Anyone with experience with the Centro or the new smaller Blackberry devices using medical applications?
