Practice Builds on the Trust, Stability and Integrity of 20-Year Partnership with Misys Healthcare Systems to Reduce Medical Errors and Improve Office Efficiency
Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, today announced that Family Health Center (FHC) of Battle Creek, a primary care provider in Michigan, has selected Misys EMR to automate its electronic medical records. This implementation extends Misys' 20-year relationship with FHC that has included the practice's use of Misys' practice management solutions, including Misys Tiger. Misys EMR was selected after an exhaustive search that involved evaluating vendors on factors including cost, customer service, support and technology.
Once Misys EMR is fully implemented at FHC, the practice expects to see improvements in its prescription-writing process. The staff will be able to transmit prescriptions directly to the pharmacy, thus eliminating hand-written prescriptions. This process will reduce the number of pharmacy calls questioning both handwriting and dosing instructions. FHC also anticipates improved claims processing, leading to fewer key strokes in keeping patient accounts, providing more time to focus on delivering quality care.
"At the top of our list for an EMR was a system that would enable us to continue to deliver a high quality of care to our patients while improving efficiency and reducing costs," said Dr. Peter Chang, chief medical officer for FHC. "There are a number of vendors today who offer EMR solutions, but not many with the integrity, stability and longevity of Misys Healthcare Systems. It was important to FHC that we select a solution that offered more than just a pretty face with eye-appealing features, but one that would grow with us and be there in the long-term."
Misys Healthcare Systems offers physicians a specialty-focused electronic medical records system that works with a practice's existing workflow. Misys EMR works seamlessly with Misys Tiger, the company's practice management solution for small- to mid-sized practices -- or a practice's existing system -- to streamline clinical workflow and ensure seamless performance of a practice's clinical and financial systems.
"Misys Healthcare Systems is proud of our history with FHC and the true partnership we have built over the last 20 years. We continue to enable physicians to meet the ever-changing needs of the communities they serve, through our uniquely integrated solutions," said Rob Kill, president of the Physician Systems Business Unit for Misys Healthcare Systems. "We look forward to another 20 years of partnering with FHC as it strives to stay on top of the healthcare industry's next wave of initiatives, including disease management, pay-for-performance and consumer-directed healthcare."
Misys Healthcare Systems will exhibit its latest versions of Misys EMR and Misys Tiger software -- as well as other solutions in the Misys Optimum(TM) family of products -- Feb. 12-16 at the 2006 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference in San Diego (Booth #721).
