NextGen Healthcare Information Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:QSII), today announced that its NextGen(R) EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and NextGen(R) EPM (Enterprise Practice Management) systems, as well as its NextGen(R) Community Health Solution (CHS), were named "Best in Class" by the Microsoft Healthcare Users Group (MS-HUG) in the 2006 MS-HUG Annual Awards. NextGen EMR received recognition in the Ambulatory Care -- Clinical/Patient Information Systems category; NextGen EPM was recognized in the Administrative/Financial Systems category; and NextGen CHS was recognized in the Interoperability/RHIO category.
"NextGen's use of clinical technology makes them a market leader in a number of important areas," said Steve Shihadeh, General Manager of Microsoft Healthcare and Life Sciences. "As more of our healthcare system becomes digitized, NextGen Healthcare's electronic medical records, practice management and community health solutions clearly exemplify Microsoft's vision of a 'connected health' future."
The MS-HUG Annual Awards recognize the breakthrough contributions being made by healthcare organizations and individuals to drive efficiencies across the healthcare system - ultimately containing costs and improving the quality of patient care, as well as independent software vendor (ISV) solutions that demonstrate the best use of Microsoft technology to drive results in the healthcare industry. The best in class partner winners will demonstrate their solutions in the Microsoft booth at the HIMSS 2006 Conference & Exhibition, Feb. 12-16, in San Diego.
