Novice - please advice on which PDA

Any advice welcome. I'm bewildered by all the choice. I want a PDA to help me keep up to date, organise my work, be simple to use and not crash and lose everything. I'm not really interested in fancy features that I'm not likely to use. I don't want to combine it with a phone (at least I don't think I do). I would want to be able to download stuff - eg journal articles etc from the net. My desktop at work is a PC and I have a Mac at home. Palm or Pocket PC?
Many thanks for any advice,

Nick

Re: Novice - please advice on which PDA

Hi Nick, if you don't want a phone-combo then something like a Palm TX or a Dell Axim or HP iPAQ would be a good one to go for.

I'd recommend going to your local electronics shop and trying out the Palm and Pocket PC operating systems to see which one 'feels' best to you. They will both do the things you need so its down to personal preference which one to get.

I find having a PDA-phone combo very useful - I use a K-JAM from i-mate which is small enough to use as a phone but has all the PDA features too.

You will be able to download stuff and then hotsync/activesync the articles for reading on your PDA.

After you've been to the electronics shop post back here what you think of the various models and features and we can help make more recommendations.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Chris

Thanks for the advice Chris. It will be a while before I get the chance to go and try your recommendations in a shop but once I've made a purchase I'll let you know how I got on.
