Which smartphone should I buy?

I plan to buy my first smartphone and retire my Palm TX. My priorities are to have a good phone and a reliable device for Epocrates and other software, addresses, calendar, and documents, internet, and e-mail and easy input--ideally letter recognition as well as typing. I want to use it in the office, so be able to turn the phone off and use software.
Can you make recommendations?
Thanks.
Pam

Re: Which smartphone should I buy?

If you are a keen Palm fan then the Treo would probably be a good phone/pda to go for. The 650, 680 and 700p will do everything you mention but the 700p has a faster data connection for web browsing. If you don't want to use the phone functions you can put the device in 'flight mode' and just use the installed software.

Re: Which smartphone should I buy?

It looks like you can use the Epocrates software on Windows or Plam devices so you have a myriad of choices. It should also work on the Treo 750 which uses Windows instead of the Palm OS. The Treo 680 is also a very nice device running Palm, a few people have commented on the battery life being short though. If you are interest in Windows devices then you have the choice of smartphone devices or PDA style devices
