palm vs hp

hi!
i'm looking into buying a pda and i'm not knowledgable about these techie stuff. i'm not sure if i should buy a palm or a pocket pc. i'm considering a palm tx or hp ipaq 2495. which one is better? i'm an internal medicine intern and i'll be using it as a quick reference. is there a difference between the 2 in terms of medical software they can support? any thoughts on this is appreciated. also, what pda can be used as gps? thanks.
