I'd recommend taking a look at the PDA version of UpToDate. It's an 'Evidence Based' clinical support tool that is very popular with doctors. It is fairly pricey and some institutions already have licences for their docs so do some research before buying.

BackupBuddy is freeware to back up the handheld in a format from which it can be fully restored after a hard reset. A commercial version costing more is available, and I recommend it. (Those who can learn from the mistakes of others back up their handhelds frequently before they experience disastrous data loss.)

One can modify - I don't say hack - the Palm to accept the original Graffiti, which is superior in the view of many, including me, for text entry. Search the BrightHand forums for details if interested.
