HP Ipaq rz 1710 v TomTom 5

I have a Ipaq rz1710 with ViaMichelin navigation software.
The Ipaq has the GPS built into the Car Cradle.....
This works well.......... then i decided to purchase Tom Tom5 software... i put it onto the SD card... put it in my Ipaq into the cradle it went.
BUT to no avail i cannot get asignal from the GPS......... does anyone have any idea,s can\'t seem to find the answers on the TomTom web site or the HP web site............... ?:S :

Hi Bobskiwf,

How did you install the software onto the PDA - did you follow the install instructions?

I know some software works better when it\'s on the PDAs main memory rather than SD card. Have you tried installing it into the main memory rather than onto the card?

Does the old software still work or have you unistalled it?

Re:HP Ipaq rz 1710 v TomTom 5

hi i think ive got the solution to all your problems i purchased a sd card on ebay for £40 incl postage. put it in my ipaq 1710 and it picked it up straight away. set it up in my car in the cradle plugged in cigarette socket which pickes up the satelites.went into tom tom menu into show gps status then into configure choose nmea gps. then daub rate is set at 19200. then chooses2410 com 1. then push done. it will take a little while to pick up the satelites but it does work. i have used it nearly every day for 2 months (hgv driver) and it has not failed me yet. i am using tom tom5 on 512 sd card from ebay £40 (make sure it works on your system first ask the seller they will tell you ) what a saving best purchase i have made for age,s . ps it does not take 3mins every time to pick up satelites only the 1st time after that it works straight away i hope this helps you all good luck.
:woohoo:
