I've always thought projectors instead of large screens would be the way forward for portable devices. Imagine wanting to show a x-ray to a colleague when you bump into them in the corridor - just point your cell phone and it will project on the wall. Much better than squinting over a tiny display.
It will remain to be seen how good the resolution will be but these things can only improve with time.
