Anyone ever Heard of WorldDoc?

I have been introduced recently to a program called WorldDoc. I wondered if anyone had ever heard of the program? It looks like it has some pretty great features. I'm not sure how it would integrate with an EMR, but it is an interesting personal health record.

Looks pretty good from the demo. I would worry slightly about whether the information is accurate, unbiased, etc. There are a lot of opportunities for a company like this to advertise and sell health products to the consumer who may just be looking for unbiased health information.

The NHS is working a project like this called HealthSpace: http://www.healthspace.nhs.uk

It's a bit more basic than the WorldDoc site but same kind of thing really. There's an article about it here:

That's a good point. I'll have to ask them more about their advertising means. Maybe that's how they want to make money off of us. I might just have to sign up. I'm just not sure how much people really will listen and do what is said to them on an internet site that isn't approved by their own doctor(or some other trustworthy referral).

Re: Anyone ever Heard of WorldDoc?

People do a lot of things not approved by their Doc or other trustworthy organisations - especially when they don't agree with their current treatment.

If private PHRs advertise their service direct to the public, I'm sure they will get users. I think many people would like to keep a track of their own health record seperate from their own doctors. Whether or not this is in their best interests is another matter but there is certainly a market there.

medicalmarvel,
I don't think that WorldDoc is really a health record software. I think there are a ton of other examples that meet the term health record software better than WorldDoc.

Re: Anyone ever Heard of WorldDoc?

I just stumbled across this thread and thought I'd comment.
You're right in that it's not a medical records program. Its strictly a preliminary diagnostic program.

I know Dr. James (the founder) personally and can vouch for him. For anyone interested in further reading on WorldDoc, this is a good article about the company, http://www.lvbusinesspress.com/artic...q_13971916.txt

If you want to get a hold of Dr. James, his office is in Las Vegas, with Southwest Medical Associates (http://www.smalv.com/).

I've talked with him several times about WorldDoc, and he seems very approachable regarding questions.

PM me if you'd like to know anything further.
